💡 Did you know? 10 million SMILEs made! 💡

Since 2011, Dr. Lebrun has been performing SMILE refractive surgery, a minimally invasive technique for correcting myopia and astigmatism.

Modern refractive surgery, and in particular the SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) technique, is primarily designed to free patients from their dependence on glasses or contact lenses.

From one eye... to 10 million!

The Laser Expert Vision center at Clinique du Landy in St-Ouen is honored to have contributed to the achievement of this symbolic milestone. More than 10 million eyes worldwide have been treated with Zeiss SMILE lenticular extraction.

We are proud of this recognition of our commitment to quality patient care.

Long-standing expertise

Having practiced the SMILE technique for almost 15 years, Dr. Lebrun has seen for himself its effectiveness, precision and the comfort it brings to patients.

Since 2011, Dr. Lebrun has been passionately practicing refractive surgery using the SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) technique. With over a decade's experience, he has helped thousands of patients achieve spectacle-free vision, while meeting the highest standards of safety and comfort. Visual comfort is his priority: before each operation, he carries out a complete assessment - corneal topography, pachymetry, optical aberrations, stromal density - to check eligibility and choose the safest, most appropriate parameters.

Why choose SMILE?

The SMILE technique, often referred to as the "new generation" of corneal surgery, is based on a minimally invasive approach: a femtosecond laser cuts a lenticule into the thickness of the cornea, then this lenticule is removed via a small incision of around 2 to 4 mm, without creating a flap. Developed in the early 2000s and first presented in scientific literature in 2011, the SMILE method is now widely recognized for its efficacy, safety and rapid recovery.

In a few words, why?

  • No corneal flap, which reduces the risk of subsequent displacement of a flap, as is possible with LASIK.
  • Preservation of corneal nerves, limiting post-operative dry eye and promoting faster regeneration.
  • Rapid visual recovery: most patients regain functional vision within a few hours to a few days, with very little discomfort.
  • High precision and stability: results are highly reliable and in line with prescribed targets, with increasing clinical hindsight.

Conclusion

Many thanks to Doctor Thierry Lebrun, the care team including Yanis Oulmas and Lauryn Garnier, and the administrative team for their dedication to our patients!
